Decorative Arbors and Entry Features

Decades of Dedication in Every Project

To truly make your fence or gate a standout, Boyd Fence & Welding designs and builds decorative arbors and entry features that add character to your property’s entrance. An arbor is an archway or trellis structure, often placed over a gate or along a walkway, that can serve as a focal point and support climbing plants. We create custom arbors from both wood and metal, depending on the look you desire. For a classic rustic charm, we might build a cedar wood arbor to match your fence, complete with lattice sides for roses or vines to twine through. If you prefer something more ornate or maintenance-free, we fabricate iron or metal arbors with beautiful scrollwork that can be powder-coated to the color of your choice. Entry features go beyond just arbors, we also construct custom entryway structures, such as an overhead header with your ranch or family name, decorative columns that flank your driveway gate, or integrated seating and trellis components that make your gate area more inviting. These features not only create a grand entrance but can also provide practical benefits like shade or signage. For instance, an arbor can define the passageway into your backyard and provide a frame for a gate, making the entry more impactful and welcoming. Climbing plants like ivy, jasmine, or roses can be trained over a pergola or arbor, adding natural beauty and even a bit of shade. We ensure that all our decorative structures are built with the same sturdiness as our fences, anchored securely and made to handle West Texas weather.

If you have an idea for a unique entry feature, our team will work with you to bring it to life, enhancing the curb appeal and value of your property. From a simple wooden garden arch to a fully custom automated gate entrance with an iron arch and stone columns, Boyd Fence & Welding can do it all.

Common Uses

Garden gate arbors

A popular option for residential backyards is a wooden arbor over a gate leading to a garden or side yard. It creates an inviting transition and often becomes a frame for climbing flowers like bougainvillea or roses. We’ve built cedar arbors with lattice sides that not only look charming but also provide a bit of shade at the gate.

Driveway entry arch with signage

Many ranches or rural homes in the Abilene area opt for a large metal arch over their driveway entrance, sometimes with the ranch name, family name, or a custom logo cut into a metal sign across the top. Boyd Fence & Welding fabricates these one-of-a-kind entry arches and installs them securely, giving your property a personalized landmark that can be seen from the road.

Decorative gate toppers

Even in a suburban setting, we can add decorative features to your fence gate. For instance, an iron insert or an arched top panel above a double gate can elevate the look. We have created entry features like an open metal trellis connecting two brick columns over a driveway, it doesn’t fully arch, but it adds an elegant overhead feature that you can hang a lantern from, for example.

Pergola-style entryways

Some customers want a bit more substantial structure at the gate, almost like a mini-pergola. We have built pergola-like entryways that extend a few feet, creating a shaded nook right inside the gate. This is great for front walkway gates; it provides a moment of shade and visual interest for guests entering your property.

Public or commercial focal points

We also design decorative entry features for schools, parks, or businesses. For example, a city park might have a custom metal archway entrance with the park name, or a school might want an arbor structure at a garden or outdoor classroom.
